On 10 September in Münich, Cyril Hubert will be the French representative at the World Cup of Beersommeliers. The passionated man will be alone and will carry the heavy job of ambassador of France as an external candidate.

On the programme, 3 different tests that will enable the judging panel to select between the 60 candidates from the whole world. First, a written questionnaire, then a blind tasting test and a last exercice where the sommeliers will have to guess the flavors of some beers. For the final, the candidates will have to choose one beer within a large range and present it in front of the judging panel of the contest. They will be graded on numerous points : the service, the description of the product, the analysis and the harmony of their beer with some dishes.

A passion he discovered while he was studying the hotel-restaurant field.

Trained in the gastronomic and hospitality domains, and after he worked for prestigious Relais & Chateaux, Cyril Hubert decided 3 years ago to leave this world to fully focus on beer. He went to Swiss in order to follow a diploma of Swiss Beersommelier. Aged 35, the « Beerologist » as he loves to call himself became a teacher. He proposes introduction to appreciation and a consulting service for brewers. He also helps restaurant owners to create menus. Currently training, the Frenchman already participated to numerous contests in his carrer as a jury, including the International Contest of Lyon or the Lausanne Beer Celebration.

If he wins in September, he will be the first French sommelier to bring back the title of World Champion of Beersommeliers, succeeding an Italian, two Germans and an Austrian.
